Saying Something When I Have Nothing to Say
It’s a new week, and on my list of things to do is to share something meaningful - something that hopefully makes an impact. But every time I sit down to write, nothing seems to matter.
Every email, every post that isn’t about the sheer agony we’re experiencing as a nation right now feels irrelevant.
We are reeling. As a people. As parents. As humans.
I am reeling as a mother. It’s hard to focus. Hard to sleep. Hard to go about my days as if things are normal. Because they aren’t.
As I search for the right words, I turn to the core of what I teach in coaching. There will always be circumstances beyond our control - things that shake us, break us, and feel impossible to make sense of. But in those moments, we still have a choice:
• How will we think about this?
• Who will we be in response to it?
• How will we show up?
• How will we transform pain into purpose?
None of this takes away the deep grief I feel. But it does shift my mind toward something more constructive - how can I show up in this moment?
I don’t have all the answers, but I do know this - we are in this together. And if all you can do today is breathe and hold space for what you’re feeling, that is enough.
Sending love and comfort to all who need it.
