Slowing Down From the Inside Out

I recently returned from a coaching retreat in Florida with my coach and mentor, Bev Aaron. It was a magical three days, and exactly what I needed during an especially busy season in both my personal life and business. Bev titled the retreat SLOW, and I answered the call to slow down the pace of my life.

While I was still in the U.S., the war broke out, and I was unable to return home for an additional four days. It was stressful to be away from my family, but in many ways, it felt like the retreat had prepared me for that very experience - release control, slow down, and trust the process.

I was eventually able to get on a flight home, and since returning, my nervous system has been adjusting to sirens and running to the safe room. The kids are now in their second week with no school, and once again I am being called to slow down and create a gentler rhythm of life, while juggling work, family, and everyone’s emotional needs during wartime, including my own.

One of the most meaningful takeaways from the retreat was the importance of slowing down internally, even when life feels hectic on the outside. That is what I have been practicing over these past few days - creating an inner pace that feels calmer, slower, and more compassionate, even as the sirens sound and anxiety fills the air.

I invite you to practice this too.

Put both of your hands on your heart and remind yourself that you are loved and safe. Take a deep breath in, and exhale some of the stress that comes with uncertainty and the unknown. Give yourself permission to take it slower these days.

Sending love and comfort during these challenging times.
