You Don’t Need a New Year to Start Again
I am currently in between my Hebrew and English birthdays, and to celebrate, my husband planned a fun day of glass blowing, which is a must-do if you haven’t tried it, and lunch on the beach.
As we sat there looking out at the waves and the endless water, we decided to use the time to plan our year.
I know it is not Rosh Hashana or January 1st, but for me, a birthday is always an invitation.
An invitation to pause.
To reflect on the year that passed.
To notice what worked, what shifted, what needs more attention.
And to dream about the year ahead.
I talk a lot about intentional living, but intentional living does not just happen.
It begins with making space to ask yourself honest questions.
What do I want this year to look like?
What matters most right now?
What do I want more of?
What do I want less of?
What am I ready to stop postponing?
We talked about goals, priorities, personal aspirations, and family dreams.
We named the bigger things we want to create, and then we broke them down into smaller, more realistic steps.
Because a dream without a plan often stays a dream.
But a dream with one small next step becomes movement.
And somehow, sitting there watching the relentless waves crash onto the shore again and again, I was reminded of something important.
Progress does not usually come from one dramatic moment.
It comes from showing up again and again.
Choosing again and again.
Taking the next small step again and again.
If you are feeling stuck, uninspired, or caught in the “same old, same old,” change your scenery.
Go somewhere that helps you think bigger.
Step out of your regular routine.
Give yourself space to dream.
Write down what you want.
Choose one goal.
Break it down.
Take the first small step.
You do not need to wait for the Jewish New Year, January 1st, or a major life transition to begin living more intentionally.
You can start now.
And if you need help getting started, feel free to reach out!
